I have a 72 model F100 with a V8 302.
I was wondering the firing order and the timing because i believe both may be muddled.
Also after running it it concked out and i can only get it started by pouring fuel striaght into carby??? Any ideas
I cleaned carby but still nothing.
Timing is 6 Deg BTDC and the firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 . Are you getting fuel? If not check the fuel filter it could be plugged, Also check the fuel pump to see if it's working.
If it is a 72 the gas tank is behind the seat. So the tank is suceptible to moisture {from constant temperature changes} and this can cause a lot of rust. I have had one where the tank was full of rust and plugged everything up. I had it relined and that ended the problem.
Thanks, the gas on it works but the petrol still isn't working. when the motor isn't running and i pump on the throttle vapour seems to squirt into the carby. I have no idea why it won't run??
does it start cold, or does it do this only whenit getts warm? Also you said vapor, well the fuel is suppossed to come out in a mist. If is coming out almost like smoke, you could be boiling the fuel in the carb. Maybe it got a little too warm when this happened. If you have doubts on the firing order, this tells me something has been apart recently? Maybe a few details leading up to this might give use a better idea. But since your doubting it, check it, and the timing,
It starts on Gas but is constantly back firing really bad
fire is coming out of the carbyand popping the gas system off. I tried warming it up on gas and switching to petrol but it just dies when the gas runs out. It used to run well on fuel and once when i was driving it the diff started to cluck (it is now cracked) and when i put my foot on the clutch, it stalled and hasn't gone on petrol since
