I just used a strip of velcro and mounted it on the lower right side of the instrument cluster. It sees the satelites and works fine.

I plan on getting a Garmin 2610 shortly. I plan on mounting it at the top of the dash right of the wheel so it can be seen by the passenger too.

I like this model because I can remove it and put it in my Wifes SUV when she drives on trips and store it when not traveling to reduce the theft prospect.

I'm still investigating running a power line up to the top of the dash so that when it is plugged in, the cord doesn't hang down to the installed power center.

I'd like to also run an extra power line to the back wall behind the back seats so that I could plug something (Portable DVD unit for the kids) powered from the back rather than reaching up to the front of the dash.

Took a piece of thin metal about 3 inches wide, bent it a few times, so that it ended up being a 5 sided object, (triangular on opposite sides, rectangle on the other 3 sides) screwed it to the dashboard right above that useless pocket above my right knee, then made some U-bolts out of 1/4" threaded rod, and positioned the u-bolts over the GPS to hold it all in place. Plugged it into the cig lighter, and all is well.

Not easily removeable, but where I reside, that is necessary if you want to keep it!

A 7/16 open end wrench is handy to have around, to pull the GPS out when needed for fishing on a new lake at night!
