Hello all, I need to adjust the camber on my 93 F250 with the dana 50 TTB. I see there is an eccentric bushing on the top ball joint. I losend the nut but I cant get the bushing to turn. I need to adjust it because the tires are leaning like this \ /. I am wondering if I need to remove the ball joint to turn it. It would be great to just turn it when assembled.
Those camber bushings get rusted into place and are almost impossible to move. Unless you have struggled with this job before, it might be best to get a wheel alignment shop to do the job.
If you need much of an adjustment, you will end up needing new eccentric bushings that have the proper range of adjustment. Good alignment makes all the difference with steering control and tire wear. A very good job to give to the pros.
I did mine on my d44 ttb. I'm quite sure that they are the same. First you will need to soak them down with rust penetrant for a week or so. The put the truck on stands, and remove wheels and tires. Remonve the nut on to of the ball joint. Then turn it upside down and threadit back on so you can whack the top of the ball joint stud with a big hammer. do that a few time to try and loosen the ball joint from inside the sleeve. Then I used a punch and my mini- sledge underneath the flange on the top of the bushing. Hit on one side for a while, then switch. Then pound on the top of the ball joint again. Repeat procedure untill bushing comes out. It took me about 2 hours per side. I have heard of people using air hammers, and that would probably work good. Before you put the new ones in, clean up the ball joint and hole with sandpaper. Coat all the new bushing parts with anti-seize compound.
