It's not a bad job at all - I had a worse time getting the stock one off than putting the new one on. Ended up taking a sawzall to it just to get it the heck off the truck. If you do your own oil changes - there's no reason you can't do the exhaust - 'cause that's all the harder it is.
I agree, you will need a little help positioning the New DP while you try to clamp it back on but thats about it. You can even do that yourself but be prepared to get angry, curse, spit, and throw tools. Good luck
yea its pretty easy, the tough part (like cat man 963 said) is getting the old system off, and the only real tough part about that is the stock down pipe, it will have to be cut. so have a grinder, sawzall, or a really big tubing cuter. i did mine in my driveway in an afternoon...good luck
did any of you have the seams welded after a few miles or does it fit up that good. also im looking for something with no modifications for installation, something that matches up to the hangers etc. any brands that do a great job in that area. i just want lower exhaust temps not more grey hairs
After running mine for a couple of days, I was under mine yesterday installing the pre-turbo pyro and transmission sensor and noticed a couple of very small black streaks from exhaust leaks. Some joints were good fits but most were kinda sloppy. The only hangers that fit properly are the ones on the muffler. I haven't decided whether to weld the joints or not. I may later though.
i had only one very small leak a few weeks after i did the install i tightened the clamp and no more leak. my system also fit very well, all the hangers were in the right places. i only had to cut one tube, because as the instructions said the system is made to fit a cc long bed and if your truck is shorter than you have to cut the pipe to fit. i have a stainless steel system.
