New V-10

Just got a call from my dealer my new f350 sc lariat should be in 1st week of june any tips on the break in or drive it like I stole it

Lots of folks will tell you to drive it like you stole it. But my $40,000 truck is a big investment, so I'm going to take it easy on a brand new, tight engine. The rings need to be broke in or they won't seal. Maybe full throttle break in will still seat them in, but rear ends need to seat, brake pads need to seat, etc. I'd follow manufacturers directions, besides it will keep your warranty intact. Dealers can tell in a grenaded motor how you drove it. Good luck, welcome to the V-10 world, it's a great site, you'll love it.

I recently purchased a 2004 F250 V10 3:73 Auto and drove it normal around town and on highway at speeds up to 70 for the first 1000 miles... If I am not mistaken 1000 miles is the break-in period for the V10 engine...I get 15 mpg running solo on highway at 65-70 - between 10-12 in town and 9.5 pulling a 7500 pound 5th wheel. I had oil change and filter at 1800 miles...My 250 weight is around 6500 pounds with full tank of gas - wife - and 5th wheel hitch..Some say break them in fast but just to much money to rush it...
