can 35k get me in a new ext cab dually?
chrome rims
My '03 F350 6.0 PSD crew cab 4X4 dually with ~10K miles was about $34K, so in answer to your last question: yes
Handling, ride etc. under load or pulling a big load is MUCH better with the dually. We put a large camper on back, plus pull a horse trailer, and I can't imagine doing this with a single. Unloaded, I don't think theres too much difference in handling/ride.
I also think 4X4 is a necessity with a dually, unless you're just using it to drive the kids to soccer practice on nice days. All that contact area in the rear floats over snow/ice, and even on firmer surfaces it loses traction real easy under load, like trying to back a trailer uphill. I'm always putting mine in 4X4 when moving loads around.
Another advantage of dually: I can back over my lawn with a huge load of gravel without sinking the rear wheels in and ruining the lawn!
My new V10 F350 4X4 Lariat Crewcab dually with most every option was 33K so left overs in a month or so should be easy to get at that price. The ride is a little stiffer due to FX4, AT tires, and plow package but I'm happy with it.
I bought my 04 CC new in December of 03. Paid about 40k, for a truck with a sticker of 48.6. Its loaded . . . moonroof, adj. pedals, rev. sensor, CD changer, traction lock, FX4, everything except a power slider. I absolutely love it, when I can pry it away from my wife that is. It rides a little rough, on a rough road, if you are empty. But that is just the nature of a truck built to tow 15k pounds. Most of the time you don't notice a rough ride. I set out to buy a 250 CC. I'm glad I went with the dually. The extra stability is noticeable in daily driving and extremely nice when towing. My dad has a 03 250 and I have towed my trailer with both. There is no comparison.
