Blows HOT !!!

Just got a '98 F150 and the A/c blows HOT !! It seems that even with A/C on the airflow is still beiong directed across the heater core. With A/C on, I have a cold tube coming out of the silver cylinder up against passenger side firewall. [Receiver/Dryer ??], so I suspect the R-134a charge is at least enough to cool some. Plan on checking the charge tonight and re-chargeing if necessary, anyone else have suggestions ??

sounds like the blend door isnt closing & is letting the heat in instead of the cold.

did you get it fixed? how so?

I have the same problem and have identified a the blend door as the issue. However, unlike the expoloer fix I can't see anyway to get the door back onto the blending arm motor???

Ya, I'd like to get info on this, but my problem is with an Aerostar (95).

The A/C comes on, and the floor vents blow hot! (vents on dash and upper/rear are fine). It's really frustrating, knowing the system is fighting itself. The A/C wins, but you're damned feet get hot riding in the back. (sorry kids).

Also, vent blows super cold air, in winter. Not sure if that's supposed to be that way.

Please advise! I have the Haynes, it looks fairly easy, but the dash they show is much different than mine, and I don't known where to start!

got mine to work- for how long not sure

In looking at all of the posts on this issue and reading the Explorer fix over and over again I came to the following-
On the 97 f150 the blending door is located in the center of the dash near the floor. Not to hard to get to but it is only about 4 inchs off of the floor so looking up into the plenium through a 1/2" hole trying to get an idea of what is wrong isn't the easiest thing I have ever tried to do. Using a short pencil I was able to re-center the blending door over the whole so that I was able to insert the blending door motor/arm back into the hole and make some type of contact with the door itself. Since I can't see what is actually happening I have to assume they made a good fit. I did take extra measues to try and put some odds on my side but use extreme caution if you try this- its a one way road. Frustrated with having to pull the dash to fix this issue correctly, I placed a small amount of Crazy glue- Not supper- on the end of the arm that makes contact with the door in hopes of it bonding with it so the door would work again. After a week of enjoying week of A/C and with temps starting to back off a little I thought I would see if I could get hot air to come out ......
IT WORKED- yes, so it looks like the crazy gule is working,,,again for how long I don't know-but what a pain in the butt.
.
I have read a few posts about your issue however in the vans. It seems from the rest of the posts your van has more that one diverter(blending door) to deal with. One that sends air to the back and one that blends hot with cold. They are older posts, you have to go back 10-15 pages to find them in the A/C section but I know for sure I read more than one.
Good luck to you- God bless A/C and Crazy glue!
