Front axle ID

How can I ID my front axle? I have looked at the door jam sticker and the number for AXLE is 18. This is the "rear" axle (Ford 8.8?) What about the front axle? I want to know for sure (Dana 44?)

1989 Ford F150 4X4 XLT Lariat 4.9 300

Any help and guidance would be appreciated...

Arrow Front Axle ID - Is a Dana 44 IFS

From 1980-1996 on the F-150, I'm pretty sure they used the Dana 44 exclusively. There were a few variations on the axle housing, having to do with spring mounts and the brake calipers, but they were fairly minor...

All F150's and Broncos from 1980 to 1996 use a TTB Dana 44 up front. The '18' not only tells you what kind of rear axle you have, it also tells you the ratio. The rear axle ratio is 3.08, and I believe the front is 3.07. They don't have to match exactly, they just have to be within 1% of each other.
