My '86 F150 EFI keeps stalling on deceleration. If I have to brake moderately long like making a corner at a light from a highway or on a longish stop the $#&^*%$^ engine stalls, the steering becomes almost impossible (oversized tires and wheels) and the brakes are good for just a short time. I've gotten to the point I keep one foot on the gas and one on the brake, if I can, in any braking situation. If I can let off the brakes for a second just before the corner or coming to a complete stop it will stammer and catch again and not stall but I can't do that all the time. When you let off the gas in an EFI vehicle you can feel the engine shut off while you decelerate but mine doesn't seem to come back to life at the proper time. I'm thinking MAP or TPS???
yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. This happens on my wife's Miata when the AC isn't on and the folks on www.miata.net say it's the Idle Air Controller. So, the Ford equivalent might be the culprit.
Not in my case, I had already replaced the IAC on mine. I think I have another TPS I can steal off the spare motor for the escort I have. The IAC fit and works just fine so I assume (we know what THAT means) the TPS will work too.
