Anyone know where i can obtain a solide front axle for a 90's ford, i am going to try to ditch the ttb on a 97 F-250hd Psd for a solid front axle set up off a f-350 but am having trouble finding an axle, can i use any axle if i change the spring pads and shock mounts ? or is there something with the steering that would also need to be adressed ?
I believe that an axle from the older trucks will work the same just be sure to get the right ratio or you will be eating up the spider gears. I have seen them listed in magazines but the run around $2000 for a rebuilt with 4.56 gears.

Hey Otto,
I am looking to do the same thing to my 86/95 F350. This is what I have found out. Get a Dana 60 from a single wheel F350 4x4 and You should be fine. Stay older than 97 though as the body style change poses problems. Ford didn't really change the frame dimensions from 73 (maybe older) on up through 97. The TTB Dana 50 uses Leaf springs so the install is pretty straight forward. You will need the steering linkage from the straight axle though as they are different. Good luck with the swap.
