Just can't please every one, so I might as well please myself. I asked the question in May "has anyone out there used the Fabritech kit offroad" and all I get is a bunch of rif-raf about doing it cheaper with junk yard parts.

so you're saying that the '79 F-150 axle you have is brand new? Also, I count 3 posts above that reference bad experiences with the kit you mentioned. Looks like you've got to use "junkyard parts" whether you use the fabritech kit or not. And you DID get good feedback, it just apparently wasn't what you wanted to hear. If you don't have time to fabricate, and don't want to use junkyard pulls, then why did you say this?:

I need to know if I should use 78-79 hardware and fabricate the solid axle swap or use the Fabritech kit.
seems to me like the good folks that took time to answer your question gave you EXACTLY what you asked for.

junk yard parts dont always mean low quality parts. it sounds like you think that is the case but its not.

Well, I am sorry I ****ed every body off. I have the kit, I will install it in late October and I wheel a lot in Arizona and Utah, so I will learn soon if it is a total piece of krap or not.

From the general reaction no body wants to know about it anyway.

Hey Buddy....don't sweat guys getting mad on here....Maybe they had a bad day and needed a place to vent??

I'd be interested in learning all about your Fabri-tech install and how it works for you.

I finally got the FABRITECH kit on the Bronco. It was easy even though, it took me a month of weekends to do the swap. You need a good drill and bits. The instructions sent with the kit are good except the part about centering the Diff. by adjusting the track bar. The radius arm drop brackets are a concern to me because they drop down 7"+, that is you get an 8" suspension lift but the radius brackets dont get lifted. The other concern I have is the 1993 6" springs get re-used. They may not be the best springs for a 1978 axle application. Will see when I get the Bronco on the rocks.

I still have to do a 4" shackle flip on the rear springs and work the rear drive shaft length/angle before I can wheel it. Will do the rear leaf spring shackle flip tomorrow.

Thanks for the update. I too am interested in a real world application use of the Fabritech kit. I value board members like you who have the means to try kits or different things despite popular opinion and take the risk. I'm the type who does not have the time or tools to fabricate parts for a solida axle swap. So if a kit comes out, I'm interested. We will all benefit from your findings. Good luck and let us know any further details you think neccessarry.

HEY GUYS! I AM NEW TO THIS FORUM BUT NOT NEW TO WHEELIN. LOL! ANYWAYS I JUST PICKED A ROUGH COUNTRY 6 INCH LIFT FOR MY 85 BRONCO FOR CHEAP! THE TRUCK CAME WITH ALL THE GOOD OPTIONS FROM THE FACTORY SUCH AS A 351 4V H.O., H.D. C6, 9 INCH REAR WITH POSI, LIMITED SLIP UP FRONT AND ECT. I AM RUNNING 33X13.50 SUPER SWAMPER TSL'S ON 15X10 ALUMINUM WHEELS WITH DUAL COIL SPACERS UP FRONT, AMAZING THE TIRES DONT REALLY RUB BAD AT ALL! ANYONE HAVE ONE OF THE ROUGH COUNTRY COMPLETE 6 INCH LIFT ON THERE RIG? THIS KIT COMES WITH IT ALL PRETTY MUCH. I AM GOING TO REUSE THE COIL SPACERS TO GET IT UP TOO 8 INCHES UP FRONT SO IT SITS LEVEL AND THEN ADD A 3 INCH BODY LIFT ALSO. ANY SUGGESTIONS? HERES A PIC LINK OF THE KIT I GOT WITH ALL THE GOODS! IT COMES WITH A STEERING STABILIZER AND STAINLESS BRAKE LINES TOO! http://rough.roughcountry.com/RC%20W...it-Pic-(47.jpg

New to computers too? :-)

Thanks for the info - some of that stuff you said is flying over my head, but I will figure it out eventually. I have a 90 EB Brono and an 88 Bronco II that I would like to see converted to solid axle since I take them both out to the dunes regularly. Cheers!

azbronco, what is your total cost into this now?

Kd, you need to figure out where you going with this rig. personally 6" and 35's is more then enough. if you want to run a larger tire then an SAS like azbronco did is necessary . also upgrading the rear end to a D60 would also be needed to handle anything larger then 37's. Body lifts are ugly and your might catch alot of crap here for it. just a heads up. start your own thread about this so your not hijacking this one.

Question

the truck likes mud, snow, sand, rivers & rocks mainly so whats new right? lol! it has 3.50 gears running the new 33's which seems to be fine with the auto trans. i wont be running anything bigger than 35's in the future after i wear out the tsl's. i probably wont do the body lift, ugly like you say they are. i will go with thicker poly body mounts to minimize body roll and get that extra inch. all i want to know is what you guys think of rough country suspensions compared to the others? i was going to go with skyjackers kit but got a way better deal on the R.C kit! the other kits like rancho and fabtech are just overpriced in my opinion. i am running rancho rs 5000 shocks as of now but they will go on the shelf in favor of the new heckethorn hydro 8000 shocks. sorry, i will move this post to a new one. thanks
