Drive by/Die by wire?
The engine rpm's dropped to 400-500 and then it died. I felt no vibration and did not hear anything.
The last time it stalled this evening it took two tries to restart the engine. After it started it idled just over 1,000 rpm for the last three blocks home. I assume that this was normal after the engine did not start with two cranks.
I have always used Shell gas until just recently. I have changed to Murphy (Wal-mart) which I am told is Coastal gas. The price difference of $0.06/gal. has suddenly become important. I had just filled up before the last three stalls, today.
Funny things can happen when gas gets too high or hard to get. Matter of fact I plan to get a locking gas cap later this week.
Any thoughts or similar experience?

Take it in for service.
He said if there was bad gas in town they would have heard about it, and they had not heard anything.
The Service Manager, Marc, told me he had not heard of any issues like I was describing. It may have been needing some time to adjust to a really different ignition point.
Then he asked, "Is it happening now?"
"No."
"Well, if it happens again, bring it in. Otherwise, just keep drivin' and let us know the next time you change gas."
End of conversation.
I have almost used this tank up. When I fill up again, I'm going back across the street to Shell, where I never had a problem. Not going to worry about an extra $1.00 per fill-up. Diagnostics costs $40 and that's more than the number of full-ups that I do in a year. If one of the computers is a little slow, I am sure I'll get it caught before the warranty expires.
Thanks, again, for the advice.

So, the gas you are getting at Wal-Mart vs. Shell comes out of the same pipe at the distribution hub. Ok, there is a chance the trucks come from differnt hubs, but those hubs almost certainly are fed from the same refinery. It's 99.8% the same. That's why the dealer would know if there was a 'bad batch' of gas... it would affect every station in an area. Even this is extremely remote.
I used to do gasoline analysis for Tosco, Giant, Phillips, etc.
