The other day I saw a PSD with a pressure vessle underneath the cab. I thought it might be CNG, so I was curious and turned around to drive by again.
The placard on the tank said LP gas (propane).
Now I know a lot of city buses and municipal vehicles are set up to run CNG as low emission vehicles.
But why convert a PSD to LP? The BTU content of LP gas is a lot less that diesel fuel, so there will be some power loss. And LP stations are far fewer than diesel stations, not to mention that diesel is less expensive.
The only reason that I could think of for such a conversion is that:
1- He owns or works at an LP dealer.
2- He drives an LP tanker truck.
Anyone else ever heard of or seen this conversion, or know of any advantage for doing so?
