i recently installed some new speakers, 6x8 3 ways, to replace my old ones. i think it sounds a lot better but i am having this rattling sound from my truck. i didn't know if i should just line it or what. plus i didn't know if anyone had any reccomendations as to how much to use or what brand to use. if ya can help me plese do.
Sounds like you need some sound deadening. Adding mass to those door panels will help lower buzzing/rattling, reduce cancellation, and give you greater midbass output. Second Skin makes some great sound deadener (secondskinaudio.com) for relatively cheap. For 2 doors, I'd recommned around 50 sq. feet.
Any sound deadening material, dynamat brownbread etc will work. you should need 50 sq ft to cover the entire door's body insde and out. this will increase your sound quality and volume level. (sane way)
If the rattle is localized to the speaker mount area you can get just enough to go around the speaker opening (cheaper way).
Or you could go nuts buy it in bulk and cover every square inch on the interior skin, reducing road noise, and increasing sq like i did. (not sane way)
