1999 PSD Purchase - Questions
Hello, nice site, I'm finding alot of useful information prior to a possible purchase of a '99 F250 Super Duty w/PSD.
Vehicle in question has 190K miles. Previous owner used a fifth wheel to tow something (probably lived in the vehicle). There is a "rattle" of sorts under the vehicle, in the area of the oil pan or flywheel. My first thought is perhaps a flywheel (flexplate) with a crack starting. It's not too bad, although you can tell it's louder than a normal diesel rattle. Almost like a loose bracket or something. Not similar to a fuel knock. Other than that, the engine is smooth, with no smoke, other than some black when you punch it. Any other items to look for on a vehicle with this type of mileage? Transmission fluid is nice & red & there are no leaks evident. Thanks again.
