Ive been using the chiltons manual, its not entirely useless. I also have an older chiltins shop manual that has some bits and pieces of ford big block engine stuff in it.
I need ONE good book/manual that just covers FE engines, or all ford engines 65-7o-something. One that covers electrical stuff and mechanichal stuff, not to technical that I get a headache over it.
one that has interchangability data, nubers and ID info ect.
A "FE engines for dummies" book, but with a lot more data.
any suggestions? I looked in a few places and the books are either not detailed enogh or are just fluff.
chiltons has a good basic book but they lack a great deal of stuff.
I'm not interested in the truck per se, most of the truck minus the engine is in chiltons or is self explainatory.
"How to Rebuild Ford Big Blocks" by Steve Christ is a great book. Has been invaluable while building my 390. It has a lot of info on casting #'s, interchangeability, rebuilding, machine work, and FE's in general.
For stuff more specific to my truck I use the Ford Truck Shop manual on CD Rom. If I need a page out in the shop I print it off, get it greasy, and throw it away.
Both available on this very site.
