let's start from the top
i have been getting real familiar with my 258 I6 in my
cj7, but when it comes to my ranger, i don't know !@#%.
i'm more than willing to learn and i figure this is a good
place to start. before i get in to it, when any one refrences
parts, if you could say where it is, it would help out a great
deal.
my ac does not work. i don't know how to charge it, i don't
know what/where the compressor is, or what tools i need.
i have a 98 ranger xlt 4banger. where do i start?

If you want to learn to do it yourself, First, go buy a book on automotive A/C systems.
For starters you'll need a decent set of gauges, spring lock tool(s), leak detector (Dye or Sniffer), usual wrenches, and maybe a good vacuum pump.
