I was reading up on the manual for the carburetor and the front jets are a size 54 and the rear jets are 65. The manual said not to increase the jet sizes by more than 4. So according to the manual I could boost up the front jets up to 58 to get them closer to the rear size. Should I go any bigger if neccessary? Another thing is that the fuel never even dripped out the rear bowl so I know I should adjust the rear floats. Just giving you more information so you can diagnose the problem. Thanks again.
The fuel level should be just below the sight plugs. You should be able to see fuel if you rock the truck a little bit. If not, then raise the level until you do.
I would set the timing to 10 BTDC. You also need to check to make sure that the vacuum advance is even working. You can remove the cap and suck on the vacuum line and watch to see if it is trying to move the breaker plate in the distributor. You can also use your timing light and watch the timing marks, it the timing moves as soon as you start to open the throttle, then it is probably ok.
If all of this is good, then I would go up on the jet sizes. Holley recommends 2 numbers at a time.
AutoZone should have some jets behind the counter in the carb section, if not, a local speed shop should have them. AutoZone can order them if they don't have them.
They are part # 122-?? whatever size you want. ex: 122-56 = a 56 jet size.
