F250 Tacho Problems

F250 Tacho Problems
I've got a little proble with the tacho not reading correctly all the time. Is there anyone out there who knows how these things hook up and to what. Its a 92 F250 with the NA 7.3 Diesel V8. When the truck heats up (to normal highway temps) the tacho reads 0 until the revs are over about 2000 and even then I wonder if its reading correctly.

Sure, the pickup is right beside the oil fill spout. It has a connector about 6" from the pickup that may be corroded. Unplug it and replug it to see if that fixes it. Here is a picture.
