Charging and Battery
Only twice when hauling our small trailer has our 00 Explorer had charging problems. Maybe the trailer?
I have since checked charging and under a load (AC, lights and running of course
) the voltmeter reads 13.90, even when I boost the throttle.
With no load 14.00.
I have checked the battery and two cells do not read very well. One is middle average and one is very low good.
I am trying to figure if the alternator is suspect and both the battery as well.
THIA for any info.

If you only have a problem when the trailer is attached, I would first suspect a short in the trailer wiring (or wiring in the truck that supplies the trailer). When the trailer is attached, the short is drawing a current load that drains the battery and may exceed the alternator's ability to recharge the battery and maintain electrical loads.
