Red face Buzzer ???????

Hi,
I have a 1986 F150 Lariat 5.0 Auto. I have had it for about 5 yrs and for the first time the other day, when I opened the LHS door, a buzzer sounded and kept on sounding until I shut the door. I guessed it might be something to do with the lights, but they were off. The other thing that has changed at the moment is that I have the a/c system apart as the evaporator exploded (along with the blower box. So maybe this has something to do with it.
So.....what is this buzzer for??? BTW, this vehicle is US built but imported to Australia and converted to RHD, so the LHS is the passenger side now, with the steering wheel and brakes relocated to the right side, so it's not worrying me all that much. But I'd still like to fix whatever it thinks is wrong just the same.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
Regards,
Tony

Normaly the Buzzer you hear when you leave the key in the Ignition comes on when you open the drivers side door, its there to warn you not to lock your keys in the Ignition, over time...the buzzer in the Ign switch becomes stuck in the up position, causeing it to come on without the key in the ignition, when it gets this way, it grabs the key and sometimes causes it to become "stuck", the customer tries to remove it, by wigging and pulling on it, which if its well worn, causes it to break. I have repaired several of these types of locks over the years and have notice that the reason they become stuck is because of lack of a graphical spray lube. Most people spray WD-40 in the switch and even tho it healps the problem then, it also washs out any lube that needs to be in the lock cylinder. Over time the lock wears, your key becomes thinner an thinner...and then everytime you stick that key in the lock...it wears the tumblers and wafers out. When you got that heavy ring of keys stuck in the ignition, and its swinging every which way when you slow down and turn, what to you think is happening inside the lock? Pressure is applied to the inside of the lock, its like rubbing metal against metal without the lube. If you want the lock to last a long time, apply a lube of graphite inside the lock, leave the key ring off and use one key in the ignition, and take it out after you're through driving....

Thanks Locknkey. I did actually work it out for myself today. I guess it would have been obvious had the truck still been left hand drive. I'm sure it's never done this before though so I think the door switch has only just begun to work again. I don't think it did before.

Just disconnect it. Take off the dashpad. On a LHD the buzzer is above the glovebox, plugged onto the instrument panel frame. When they converted to RHD, this wasn't changed. With the pad off you'll find it easy
