Joining The Ontario Chapter

I would like people who want to get involved in the Ontario Chapter to join if they not done so already. This gives me a master list of who is active on FTE and also names of people. Just go to the main forums page then scroll down to the Ontario Chapter part and select Join Chapter. Once a request is sent, I will accept.

Also, some of the other chapters want to implement an idea that I think might be beneficial. They are making it so they don't accept requests to join the chapter until people have at least FIVE POSTS. This way you get rid of the people who are new and not really interested. Keeps everything neat and tidy.

Let me know what you guys think. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

There's some good logic behind a minimum post requirement. Making it only 5 posts hopefully would not alienate folks when they are brand new. It's not nice to pull the welcome mat out from under someone!

Well, that's what I am thinking. What people will do is request to join the chapter, then I can check up on how many posts they have and if they have more than 5 I will accept. If less than 5 I could send them a courtesy email explaining the situation. If they decide to stay and they get 5 posts then good. If not, well, then the list will be less cluttered.

P.S. By the way, Dealford you are not on the list....just to let you know...

I found the "Chapter Memberships" when I clicked on the "User CP" button. It's in the left side column under misc.
Request sent.

Here's my little thing about this 5 post rule.
New guy joins FTE, sees the 5 post minimum, answers to 5 or more posts in general discussion(not really that hard or time consuming--quantity over quality); joins this chapter and disappears.

Another example is myself (not a lot of posts). I usually post to to things I know about, or things that are an interest to me. I don't normally post to "what did you do for your wedding?" or "what would you like to eat for your last meal" type questions.

So my short answer is: dump the 5 post minimum (add one post to me, thank's )

I myself am also a fairly new member, I dont know exactly how many posts i have, i am more of a reader then talker/question asker. I dont normally reply much because thread counts dont really me awhole lot to me. Just my opinion tho.

I don't see a big deal about needing posts to join a chapter. If they can subscribe to FTE then why can't they be a member of the Ontario chapter, 0 posts or a million posts. They are still here anyway. I was just browsing through this thread and thought I'd add my .02 cents. I think anyone should be able to join. Like buck96 says, a lot of people come here to read and learn. I read most of the time too.
