Improving intake air flow

I took the grill off my truck this weekend to clean the radiator - lots of bugs , etc. I noticed that the air intake hole on the left side is rather small. (I'm assuming that is what this hole is for.) Is there any benefit to enlarging it?

I would say not because the filter is so restrictive anyway. You could install an aftermarket intake like many of us did. I chose Tymar at tymarperformance.com. You can do a search (intake) and see for yourself what other people like.
