Thumbs up Filters ??

I'm the happy new owner of a 99 CC SD 4X4 V10. First two tanks of gas averaged just a hair under 13mpg. A heck of a lot better than the 460 in my last F250. Couple questions though,,,,,,,,i hear a bit about air filters and was wondering if someone could give me some input on what's the best performance air filter for the stock breather setup?? Also,,,are there any oil filters i should avoid? and any that are better than others? fram numbers would be great.
Thanks! and i think this forum is awesome!!

as for air filters you can cut the stock intake away around the stock filter so it is held in open air...... as for oil filters Wix are rated pretty good for cheap filters.. stay away from Fram..those filters are no good

Wow... this is the proverbial "can-o-worms" you are opening there
and you will get some of the same responses to this as "Boxers or briefs...
or none ?"

MANY have said - including my svc mgr - stock filter only for warranty purposes...
Some have said AFE 7 only for the safest filtering other than stock...
Some have said K&N is terrible, some have said it's great...
(I do know I saw a dyno run of a K&N intake and predator only that did 387 HP !

See why I'm still on the original stock filter cuz I'm so confused

Atmotion,
I like the Tymar setup and wasn't too expensive for better breathing. Have had mine for 30K miles with no problems, just a bit better performance and a hella lot better sound. I don't trust the K&N oily filter for turbos either. my $.02

Stock set-up - I'd go with a Motorcraft. Personally, I try to stay away from Fram. Heard good things about Wix and some others, but if Ford puts a Motorcraft on, I will too.

Might seriously consider upgreading to a Ford AIS or a Tymar.........

There are sooo many threads about this already. Search on K&N and you will get an ear full. My advice is to try some of each and see what you think. It is kind of like the question "what is the best wax?"..... Don't get us started on that.....
Experiment and let us know what you find out.....
