Clutch Upgrade Question?

I am planning on installing my flywheel/clutch replacement kit this week on my 96 F250 4X4 on wanted to know if it was better to remove the transmission and transfer case together or seperate. And for that matter resinstall also. I had heard of some people not seperating them and if so where is the balance point. Any links to previous posts of sites would be appreciated. Last question what is the best synthetic lubricant for the transmission/transfer case?

i think if i had to do it over again i would seperate, those 2 are a cumbersome pair. Depends on the setup you have to work with, lift, tranny jack, blah blah blah
