help

i have a little problem. my father-in-law was driving my truck when he said that he noticed that my heater core was goin out. he then took it upon himself to plug the heater core intake line and the intake hole in the firewall. i have a 1995 ford f150 with a 300 striaght 6. I need help to find out if the work that he did was the right way. please help me know if this right.

An easier way would have been to unhook the core inlet hose, unhook the core return hose on the block and plug the inlet hose directly to the retun on the block. I'm not sure how he plugged it but if these plugs somehow come loose and flow into the engine... Oh oh!
