Is there any one that can help me with my wiper problems?? I have a 1960 F100, its on third set of arms and blades, The problem is, the right hand side slaps the chrome molding at the bottom of the windsheld, and this I cant stand. Is there a good after market arms and blades out there , or do I have to but up with wimpy wipers.
Thank you for your Time

The wipers will always be wimpy but they can be liveable. I run new wipers and new arms that are unversal fit for maybe a vw bug or older jeep or a 59 f100 any good parts store should have them. Keep the blades short 12" I think. Do you have electric or vacume? Your rh wiper blade you may just need to remove the arm and put it back on so that it will not hit the chrome when it is running.
Thank you 57, I have electric wipers not stock, had to replace with 1989 Bronco, works good with the exception of the slaping, maybe I should look into changing my linkage?? what do you think?
What do you mean by "had to replace with 1989 Bronco?" Are you using a motor from a Bronco? Have any pics of it? I used a motor from an old international pickup. I had to modify it a little though. This doner truck was about 3/4 inches wider than mine. The throw is just a little bit too long on the drivers side. I would be interested to know more about the Bronco however.
Like 57 Ford said, you should just have to remove the wiper arm from the pivot shaft and reinstall a little higer up so that when comes down it won't hit the moulding. Remove it, turn the wipers on, then off. Now reinstall opposite the other arm and it shouldn't hit the moulding. They can be difficult to remove if they have been on the pivot shaft a while. You need to raised it parallel to the pivot shaft as much as possible and then carefully pry it off the shaft. I believe they sell a tool to help with this but i usually use a small flat pry bar and a thin piece of wood between the bar and the paint. They can be a pain to remove. Good luck.
I have too much play in that side of my wiper linkage to just adjust my arm up a notch.... about 1/4" of play, it comes when the arm starts its way back to the other direction.
Sounds like the connection points on the linkage arms under the dash are really worn. Maybe you can find a less used set of linkage from another truck of the same year. They probably have nylon bushings that are worn out or even missing. The problem could be at the wiper motor or at the cowl pivot points or both.
Could it be worn on just the passenger side of the linkage and not the diivers side? because it is good and tight.......wait.... Isn't that German for "Virgin"?? any way drivers side works like new.
Thank you for your time
PS, please excuse the time delay, very busy time of the year for my job.
Are you running the factory linkage or the bronco? I have also seen the outer nut come loose on the bellcrank in the center and cause one of the 2 to come loose or travel to far.

Like the others have said a bushing must be worn or missing. Maybe you can get some one to move the wiper back and forth and you look under the dash you may see the problem.
