lost key

i know when my friend lost his key to his isuzu trooper they call the dealer with the VIN and they gave him some numbers, they then took those numbers to a locksmith who cut a new key for 50 bucks his trooper was a 93 though. I dont know if they did that back in 1983. In my experience you usally have to have the key to put in a new lock cylinder.

Have a locksmith break the tumbler to the on position then pull the steering wheel and insert a pin into a tiny notch that will let you pull the tumbler out, then get a new one and put it in.
