i have a 1996 f-150 302 m5od 4x2 when i go down a curb or turn the truck makes a few horrible clunking noises like the leafs are shifting from side to side. if i shake the truck back and forth it does not do it. please tell me where to start or if there is any info i didn't tell you or my gallery cant tell you
Could be your radius arm or I-beam bushings are worn. Also check balljoints. Do you have any uneven front tire wear? Can also check for loose u-bolts on the rear springs or bad sway bar bushings.
i will check the u-bolts tomorrow because i just had spring work done at harolds frame shop and the axle must be in at a slight angle because i hae to hold the steering wheel 1/8 turn to the left to go straight. i have no uneven tire wear. what are the sway bar bushings??
The sway bar goes from the axle to the frame and back to the axle. It is a big round bar that limits body sway. There are bushings in all the places were the sway bar is mounted to the axle, frame, and link rods that go on the ends of the sway bar.
Since you said you had axle work done, that sounds more likely to be the problem. Sounds like you need a 4-wheel alignment now to get the truck going straight down the road.
i am soooo stupid. i found the problem. i had a tool box under the tonneau cover and it was not strapped down so every time i yurned it would hit the side
