I've gone Ford truck crazy. At least, that's what my wife thinks. 2 yrs ago I bought my first, a '94 F150 with the 300 and a 5 speed. 4 months ago, I found a deal I couldn't pass up on a great looking '90 F250 with a 351W and E4OD. Now I've found the truck of my dreams!!! It's a 2000 F250 SC with the PSD. It's the XLT. It's got 62,000 miles on it, and I'm serious when I say that the underside isn't even dirty. The muffler's still shiny! My question is, the asking price is $24,000. Is that a good price? I REALLY like this engine, and the truck drives like a dream. Sure seems to take bumps better than my '90 F250. Is 62,000 miles a lot of miles for this truck and engine, and finally, does it mean I'm getting old if I USED to dream about lovely young ladies, and now I'm having dreams about big blue ford trucks???
Rotorhead, it sounds like a good price. By the sounds of it the truck was driven all highway. These truck were made to work but I would throw caution into the wind when buying a truck that was over worked. The bad thing is you will never know. I would take it to a Ford dealer have them look it over really good...ie. trans and turbo!!! The engine still has 40,000+ miles on the warranty so you should be ok there. Also, check the VIN number for any accidents. There is a web site...Carfax.com or something like that.
The PSD is a great engine but like any other engine out there it needs to be taken care of.
LAST EDITED ON 22-Oct-01 AT 09:22 PM (EST)[p]my 2000 SC long bed 2wd xlt PSD was $24,900.xx. bought it for $21,900 with 42,000 miles but I have a dirty muffler :P
I picked up a new 2001, F-250, SC, LWB, 2 wd, PSD, XL, 6 spd, Cassette, Tilt, Cruise & Bedliner in Memphis 3 weeks ago for $24,700. If there are any 2001s still available in your area you might want to go that way or think about a trip to where some are still available. The one dealer in Memphis that has two locations probably still has a fairly good selection of 2001s ranging from what I purchased to 350 CC Dulleys with 4wd.
