Hey guys. My brother has a 2.0L with 170,000.
It recently started overheating within 2-3 miles,
still does it whether going slow or fast, and stays
overheated with heater on. Also says it has a coolant
leak from down in the engine, not specific. I thought
maybe thermostat until he found the coolant leak. Could this
be the water pump? Thanks in Advance.
With the engine off and cold, open up the rad and fill it right to the top. Water runs downhill, so you should be able to better locate the leak without the engine (& fan) running. Take it from there for the proper repair.
Thanks Dealford. He's 100 miles away, I'll have him try it and get back to you.
He's going to be here this weekend so we can work on it, if it'll make it this far.
