Head Unit Problems
I have a Kenwood KDC-MP819 head unit for my 96 Bronco. I have been having a strange problem with it lately and thought maybe someone here could give me some insight. My CD player will work off and on. I will be playing a CD and all of the sudden the sound will cut out and there will be a low buzzing. Kind of sounds like listening to an AM radio station that doesn't have a signal, if that makes sense. The face plate will still act like the cd is playing, but there will be no sound. I used to give a good whack to the dash above the radio and the sound would come back. Now I notice that if a grab the side of the trim piece around the face plate, and jiggle the unit back and forth, there will be a pop and the sound will come back on. This doesn't affect the radio though, b/c I can switch that on and the sound will be fine. I thought it might have been a wiring problem, so I pulled the whole thing out and rewired it 2 weeks ago. Same problem still there. If at all possible I would like to take care of this myself b/c I have no money. Any ideas??
