I just got notice my DiabloSport chip is in the mail. I did half a tank fill up on premium (91, highest I can get in CA) so should I do a full fill up on 91 and wait to put in the chip?
Also, can anyone recommend a good octane booster? I saw some articles online about adding tuolene (sp?) to get some some good octane boost.
If you've got half and half now, I'd run it doww to at least 1/2 to 1/4 tank to put it in to be fine. But you will have the best results if you run it all out.
octane booster just dont work. I am sure the webmaster will chime in about that. The most you can expect is .2 octane.......yes that is POINT 2 octane.
I followed the instructions till I pulled the ECU. I don't know if you know this (moderator) but the 02 Ranger's ECU is encased in an alluminum case. I had to take some snips to get at the rear contacts. Once done, I put on the chip. I put the tape on the back and put everything back together and did a hail mary even though I'm not Catholic.
Well, it started.
Quick question though. How long does it take for the chip to re-do the ECU code? Do I need to drive it longer than around the block? Any feedback would be great. Thanks for interest in my thread.
chip takes effect immediately overiding the factory parameters, however the pcm also is learning as it goes and makes fine adjustments to the a/f tables and timing as you drive. it learns YOUR driving habits and adjusts accordingly-meaning drive it like you stole it. heavy foot means more timing and a/f ratio. its an adaptive strategy so drive it about 500 miles and you should see the improvements at full strength.
what a great mod to start with, good luck.
do a search on magnaflow mufflers, straight thru, more power and a good sound without drowning you out in the cab. my opinion, do the search and read for yourself.
good luck, glad your liken the truck!
