ok, I was driving my truck earlier today and I went to pull away from a stop sign and it just like stalled out and died, its acting like it aint gettin enough fuel or something, anyone know what the deal is, its a 89 f-150 with EFI 300
I will check the fuel filter, as soon as I can find the damn thing...LOL and as for a code puller, I dont have one, but I believe autozone sells em...hopefully its something simple, because i aint really got the cash to have to buy new injectors or anything
The fuel filter on my 90 is right under the cab on the drivers side frame rail. There could be some pressure there, so watch your eyes when you pull it out of there.
You can check the codes yourself. There is the EEC self test plug under the hood on the drivers side fender. There is a plug that has many wires on it, and then there is just a single wire w/ a little plastic plug on the end of it. Ground that w/ a clip wire and put the key on to the run position. You'll hear the fuel pumps come on and the check engine light flicker. Then you'll see it flash. Count the flashes and write them down. For example, if the code was 61...it would blink 6 times 1/2 second apart, then give a 2 second pause...then flash once...and then it'll replay that again....then it'll pause for 6 seconds and flash the next code, pretty easy to figure out.
But if an engine isn't running, you've got to make sure you have fuel and have spark. My dad's truck died on him cuz the coil broke...no spark.
I did a code check and I came up with a 95 which is Fuel Pump Circuit failure PCM to GRD, which I think means a bad fuel pump, right?? if so, I dunno which fuel pump it is, its got one in the tank and one inline...its an 89 f-150 xlt lariat EFI, so I dunno what the deal is, help please?
