fuel gauge dilema

fuel gauge dilema

I have a 87 E150 conversion van and the fuel gauge dosen't work on either tank it switches fine but won't register,can someone help me? thanx conga man

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Well you could have a bad gauge or possibly 2 bad sending units. Are all of the other gauges working properly?

hi the gauge tested good but would both senders go out at the same time? All other gauges working fine.

I wonder if the switch that you use to switch tanks is bad on the gauge side. It may be switching tanks, but not letting voltage thru for the gauge.

its your sending unit, from gettin sediment inside the meter, or just worn out, after all its 17 years old. and yes its both of them, mine both did the same thing on my 88 f150. about 75 - 90 bucks will get you a new one. before mine went out they were bobbing around on my gauge like a jack rabbit, then just stopped responding. not a big job to fix those though. good luck.
