The steering column in my '68F100 has a .465 gap between the bottom of the steering wheel and the top of the steering column, You can look in and see the turn signal switch (which I just replaced). My question is can I move the column up to close that gap to .020-.030? I see that it runs through a rubber boot on the floor and then has a clamp on it in the engine compartment.
Can I loosen that clamp bolt, loosen the 2 bolts on the bottom of the dash, and slide tha column upwards?
Second question: Does anyone have a diagram showing how the turn signal turn off cam is supposed to be installed? It fits very nicely over the spring in the column but how do I get it to turn with the steering wheel? I don't see any through hole in the wheel to insert a rod to "lock" the cam to the wheel.
I'm stumped. Am I missing a piece?
