7.3 l heads

will heads from a 1991 7.3l IDI NA work on a 1994 7.3l Turbo? I have been told that the blocks are the same, just minor diffs in the wrist pins and naturally the pistons.

7.3 l heads

All 7.3L heads are the same. All 6.9L heads are the same except the first year (1983) which have a different pre-combustion chamber. The difference between 6.9L and 7.3L (except for the afore mentioned 1983 pre-chambers) are the head bolt holes. The 6.9L had 7/16 inch head bolts and the 7.3 had 1/2 inch bolts.

Precombustion chamber volume -
6.9 = 18.34 cm3
7.3 = 20.42 cm3 (increased only for emissions certs)

Precombusion chamber inserts are physically interchangable, however the throat has been redesigned to distinguish them apart, and the 7.3 prechamber cup has an embossed "88" on it.
