I've been reading some of the older posts regarding the "X" factory and aftermarket DVD options and have some questions:
Does the 6-disc in-dash changer have the capability to control a [the factory] DVD option?
If so, is the wiring already there or is that additional?
Does the factory DVD option have a player integrated into the ceiling console or is it in another location?
Does anyone have any knowledge of the wiring functions of the 6-disc-DVD changer harness (color to function) -OR- has anyone wired an aftermarket DVD player to the factory 6-disc in-dash changer?
Is anyone aware of another company that makes a custom overhead console for the X besides Audiovox? I have seen one at mobilevideo4less.com, but I can't find out who makes it.
Is there truth to the fact that the overhead monitors obscure your rear view? Only for the larger monitors?
Only part of your question I can answer is.......yes it does block your view with a large monitor. I have a 15" widescreen and you can't see anything in the mirror. It doesnt bother me cause I still can use the side mirrors. Just like everything else.....if you WANT one thing you gotta give up another. BIG monitor or rear view mirror.

The in-dash changer also controls the DVD player in the rear when you are in the correct mode.

The DVD player is integrated into a unit that spans from the left side of the vehicle to the right side. On the left side is climate control, in the middle is the drop-down display, and on the right is the DVD player and auxilliary inputs.

I have not noticed much obstruction. Usually less than if my friends were in the back moving around instead of concentrating on a movie.
