Yes, it's been done by several. Do a search for air conditioning swap in this forum. You will find many different options for adding air (factory air from parts truck, dealer add-on air from parts truck, or new aftermarket unit). I've chosen to swap in a factory unit, it's a little more work, but I think it's easier for me and will be easier to find replacement parts in the future.

i2d, did vintage a "system" for your 77? Was told by vintage they didn't have a complete system for my year truck and would have to piece together everything.One reason I went with AMA. How does yours work and are you satisfied with it?
my vintage air system works excellent, it was a piece together setup as like you say, they don't have a complete kit for our trucks as of about a year ago anyway.
