Question 1972 econoline head light problems

Where can I purchase a new light switch for a 72 E100 ?

Did early vans not have a head light relay ?

The head lights are going on and off after a short time of being on. All of the grounds are tight, the wiring is sound. The high/low beam switch has been changed, but made no difference.

Thanks GR

Mccutcheon44,
There is a very good chance that the circuit is overloaded. Usually this is because you have put in Halogen bulbs or another modern bulb that uses more Wattage. You will need to put in relays. Search for this topic and you will see tons of strings about this.

Red face

Thanks Carl. I did in fact put Halogen lights in the van. I didn't believe they
were causing the problem however because it had done the same thing with the
sealed beams sometime ago, at that time I replaced the hi/lo switch and it cleared up my problems. I think your correct about the relay though, the
light switch is getting hot.
I am surprised there wasn't a headlight relay in line from the factory.

I posted here because the "full size van" portion of the forum seemed to be
conversation on late models only.
Thanks again, Gregg
