Brakes lock up
My son has a 91 Bronco. We just had the brakes redone on it. Every once in a while the E-brake light and the ABS light will come on and lock the brakes up. I have found it happens when he has the brake on and gives it gas at the same time. I told him one way to fix it was to stop power braking. He's 15. After shutting the Bronco off, it fix's it self. Any way to make it right? He depends on the rig to get to school and then to work to pay for the Bronco.

My best guess is a bad hydraulic control valve for the rear anti-lock brakes. You could try disconnecting the electrical side of the valve to disable it, and try to duplicate the symptom. These rear abs units don't age too gracefully. It's the only part of the sytem that can divert or stop the flow of brake fluid - maybe it's trapping it. Shutting the truck off would let it reset. If that works, I'd either find a good used unit, (a factory part is megabucks) or just leave it disabled and disconnect the ABS light. Brakes that are too good make bad drivers, right?

Where would I find this control valve at? I am limited to what I can do due to a being rear ended and having 2 neck surgurys and more to come. Left arm does not want to work all the time. So is this something that a one armed fat boy could do easy? Thanks.
