i know westin makes a good gaurd/push bar for the 92 to 96, and those i beleive will fit our trucks since you can interchange the whole 92 to 96 front clip onto our trucks. I would strongly sugest staying away from anything chromed, brush gaurds and tube grills seem to look like crap real quick when you get them in chrome.
I don't know for beans, but our local auto repair radio show says that's alot of weight on the front end that it wasn't designed for....rough on suspension parts.
Why don't you try Warn. Their bumpers are great and you could even upgrade it and get a winch later. The extra weight of a brush guard is nothing if you have a good suspension.
I had an 83 F-150 I6 4x4 with a Smittybuilt brush guard on it and I never had any trouble from the extra weight. The problem is, I talked to a guy in Reno before I moved from there about getting another Smittybuilt brush guard and he told me that Smittybuilt got bought-out and they didn't have anymore brush guards.

There hardly is enough weight to be concerned with, you'd get more weight from towing a trailer, or way more from a snowplow, and some guys get by running plows on 150's, but myself wouldn't recommend that...
I used a brush guard off an old Bell Atlantic telephone van. These early '80s to mid '90s Dodge vans had them and they always looked cool. You can spot the vans easy cause they were always painted a weird puke green or white. I added one to my F100 and it fits the lines of the nose well. I did have to drill two holes in the bumper though. It works well as I found out when I accidently caved in the right boxside of a fullsize Chevy.
I haven't seen too many great looking brushguards for 80-86.
JCWhitney has one for older trucks.
Check out LMC Trucks out of Kansas City Missouri. (They handle the typical style I've seen for older trucks) You can get them in Chrome or Black
Warn stuff is great, and you can add winches and other accessories later if you want. I mounted one on my '92 and it fit no problem. It has taken alot of abuse! Or you can just make your own if you have a welder!
I new a guy that built one for his 94 Dodge Dakota. It took three guys to lift and hold it in place when he welded it to the frame. Over the 4 years he had it on the truck, he killed eight deer without damaging the truck.
The brush guard did however, play a major part in wearing out the front end including the springs.
