I have a 2000 EB 4X4 with brake light problems among other things. I have never had any problems until now. The third brake light is the only one working and when you use the turn signal it blinks rapidly, along with the directional compass. When I checked the turn signal in my garage I noticed that the interior lights blink along with the turn signal. Also, the electric seat doesn't move and the memory button for the mirrors and the automatic pedals doesn't work. I have had the battery checked and replaced some corroded terminals. I have checked all of the fuses. I was sure I found the problem on another message board and ended up replacing the Multifunction switch(turn signal). I think I have an open circuit somewhere but I am not sure where to start looking. HELP. PLEASE.
That is a lot of circuits affected. Sounds like a ground fault, or water intrusion in the fuse box/Gem module, or a feedback short to hot somewhere. Ive heard some 4x4 switches at the transfer can short out and cause all kinds of anomalies as well. This may be one you will have to rely on a good technician with a factory EVTM and circuit tracing skills to find. Otherwise you could end up replacing all kinds of things blindly and getting nowhere, which will cost more in the long run than just paying a skilled tech to find it.
pprasifka1@austin.rr, just noticed the ausin.rr. What part of town. I'm in Round Rock. Where are you looking at taking it? Sorry can't help w/ the problem. That sounds like it could be anything!

Sorry for the long delay for a response. I ended up taking the truck to Covert Ford on 183. I left the car overnight and they didn't start on it until I called around 5 the next day. Needless to say I was having some regrets about taking it to the dealership. They told me the next day, Friday that it was a short in the joule module caused by a leak around the windshield. I told them that this should be covered by Ford, because it is all over the internet, the guy said he had never seen it before. Anyway the bill was going to around $1000 after they replaced the windshield, which I told them to do because it has a large crack in it. By Monday they had replaced the joule module and the problem still existed so they got an older tech to look at it and he found some frayed wires in the wiring harness. When I picked it up the bill was around $300, which I didn't think was too bad, but when I turned the truck on the ABS light came on. So I went back to my adviser and explained that the ABS light wasn't on when I left it, so they ended up fixing it for "free". But they failed to replace the windshield like I asked. I think they were to busy trying to figure out what was causing the electrical problem. Sorry for being so long winded. Thanks.
Get that windshield replaced before you get water in the GEM module. Most insurance companied replace the windshields for free because it is a safety hazard and it won't raise your rates.
If they replaced the Gem module for water intrusion they should have replaced the fuse box as well. The fuse box generally is the worst of the problems. And get the windshield replaced and resealed ASAP or you will definitely have a recurring problem.
The Gem module and fuse box were what they originally thought, but it turned out to only be a couple of frayed wires, so they put the original fuse box and gem module back in, but I did notice that they replaced a relay as well. Thanks for the responses. I am going to have the windshield replaced tomorrow.
