I'm new here and decided to see if you all can help me. I have a '94 F-150 with a 351 engine.
My problem is this.....I can be driving down the rode and all of a sudden my radio goes off and usually my ABS engages, just for a second. Sometimes my whole dash goes crazy. All of my warning lights on the dash light up and my speedometer winds up like it is a second hand on a stop watch. I took my truck to the local Ford garage and they checked my charging system, but it all checked out ok. This has been happening about every day and I have looked for something out of the ordinary but cant seem to find anything. I havent done anything new to the truck lately either. My radio got installed about 4 years ago and never had a problem til now, so I ruled that out.
Plzzzzzzzzzzz help...............
Thnx everyone for your input. I think I may have found the trouble. I went to change the oil today and while under the truck I looked and saw the main wire from the battery burnt and melted to another wire that came from the solenoid on the fender. I had a heck of a time getting them apart but when I did I thought the exposed wires might be shorting things inside. Tomorrow I'm heading for the Ford garage to replace the wires and ask them if that could have been the problem. I could see where they had touched the exhaust to make them melt in the first place. I'll let you know what they say in the morning.
