Your right, MTV viewers don't care about big blocks, axles, gearing, and other stuff. They just like the accessories and paint. West Coast Customs doesn't even fully re-do the car for the show. They leave the engine if it's running, they don't do any kind of upgrades either. They just put new wheels/tires on it, paint/bodywork/interior, slap in a sick stereo/video system and thats it. Overhaulin' re-does the entire car, even with baer brakes.
I do still like to watch it because it's pretty funny to look at some of these beaters. I don't love the show but it's pretty cool I guess, its more for the non-car-educated young guys/girls.
Rides aint a bad show either, I like to watch that. American hot rod can take a hike for all I care.

I agree overhaulin is the best vehicle modification show on now. Hopefully the fact that all the episodes are done in a week will allow more new episodes than usual, unless the editing process takes more time than I would think.
I agree with Ferguson777 and MustangGt221 on the topic of American Hot rodder, as well. If I had the money and were in the market I would definitely have a second thought as to whether they would get my business, based on the shows depiction of the people. I will watch the show and what they do seems to be high quality work but I also get the impression, if someone where to pay more attention to the drama as opposed to what is being done, they might get the impression anybody with an I.Q. of three could build a car if the tools and parts where easily available, then again maybe its all set up and edited to appear that way.
Pimp my ride is an interesting show, I think most of what they do, no matter how bizzare, is done tastefully~for what it is/ what they are trying to accomplish. They have to redo the drivetrain, if you ever notice, some of those vehicles like the ranger, barely move under their own power but when done seem to start and run pretty good, maybe they just don't show that aspect of the build due to the target audience, like previously menioned, who knows?
In any case the new shows definitely beat the heck out of having to watch reruns of horsepowertv and truckstv, don't get me wrong, I like the shows but they have only shown 5 or 6 new episodes this year and then went back to the reruns, how many times do we have to see them finish off project crazy horse and build up that chevelle? I am still waiting on them to finish copperhead and do that grudge match, truckstv vs. horsepowertv, copperhead 572 vs. the chevelle 572, wonder who is gonna win? Did anyone happen to catch that when the hostess made the comment about the grudge match or am I imagining things? Later

I cant wait either for him to finish Copperhead. And I missed the Crazyhorse test . Did any one catch that episode and if so how did it do?
