I have a 1996 E150 that continually needs front-end alignments. They put in new eccentrics and bring it into alignment every time but it goes out within months and my tires wear out in a year. Is this normal for this year E150?
Nope, not normal. I have only had mine aligned twice in 200K miles. The front tires wear evenly as long as I keep the pressure up where it should be. 45 psi is about right for the fronts.
Good Point.
The first two Shops I went to were a Good Year Shops and the last two times has been with Sears. I'm thing about asking a friend who is a Snap On dealer who to take this to. The Good Year shops were in different states and I could only afford Sears. I guess if I have to spend a little more to save tire wear.
Thanks Again.
Joe
You need to find out what is changing the alignment. Is it caused by worn parts? Hitting curbs etc?
Alignment doesn't just change as you drive. Something causes the change.

Thanks for the response. In 1998 the left front right front grill and fender area received a direct hit from a whitetail dear which set off the airbags from the middle and right front deacceleration sensors. The right front tire was also replaced then.
I don't believe I have been hitting curbs on a regular basis, but I'll have to go back to my daily logbook entries to track this down.
Thank you
Joe
You are wasting your time at most GoodYear, Sears, etc. stores. They are in the business to sell tires. Their alignment machines are generally more suited for cars, assuming they even have a qualified operator.
You need to find a legit FRAME & Alignment shop. A place equiped to handle up to medium duty, large size trucks, and motorhomes.
I just had my '94 E-150 in such a shop, and it is now fixed. They will generally give you a written estimate, before any work is started. They found some items the Ford dealer didn't even check. I went back to the dealer before having the work done, because of some warranty issues on previous work. Sure enough, they verified they missed the bad parts.
