Tire Size

Hey all. I have a 2002 F250 Super Duty. I need to replace the tires and I'm thinking of buying larger than stock. I have two questions:
What is the largest tire that can go on an '02F250 without any rubbing?
Other than odometer/final drive gearing, what negative issues exist?
Also, any thoughts in general about changing tire size?

I don't know if this will help but I have an F250 4x2 crew 7.3. I just installed Michelin LTX 285/75 16's on it. Great ....no fantastic tires and no clearance problems at all. Discount Tire did say that on some Superduties they have to trim a piece of the rear mudguard on the front wheelwells. Luckily they didn't have to do it on mine. As far as the speedometer. My truck ran 3-4 mph slow.....speedo says 65 road speed was 62. I verified this with my GPS software. I haven't tested it yet with the new tires but I should be right on now with the speedometer based on Michelins spec numbers. Good luck on your purchase.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not looking for extreme ground clearance changes, just to maximize what's avalable in stock trim. Mine's a 4X4, and I am off paved road most weekends fishing, so any little increase in clearance gives peace of mind. I take it from your handle that you have a classic silver bullet. If you ever haul it up British Columbia way, email me and I'll scope out the best places to stay/things to do.

My truck is the older body style, so this might not help too much, but I had 35" tires on mine before I lifted the front end, and all that needed to be done was to shim the front bumper about 1" for clearance. Had I used 33" tires, there wouldn't have been any issue at all.

Talking

I did alot of research on tires for my 99 F-250 4x4 PSD and came up with one tire that I am really impressed with. The tires are the Mickey Thompson Mtx Radials in 285-75r-16's. They fit just right with no rubbing at all. I got them from National Tire and Wheel and get a really good price on them. When I called them I got free shipping also.
