duramax LLY?

i know, GM... but my boss is buying a new duramax for a tow vehicle, and wants to make sure he gets the "new" improved version...... on his ppw, it states "LLY", does this denote the revised engine/transmission combo, or is it something else???

thanks

it is an '04 btw...

After some searching, it appears the LLY is the new "04½" code. Previous version was LB7.

God bless Google.

yea my roomate got a new duramax LLY and yea that is the revised engine and tranny, you can open the hood and tell exactly pretty quickly the LLY has a lot less plastic on top of the engine the LB7 was covered in plastic.
