this is mostly meant for DW2455 but if anyone can help then please give your two cents in.
i saw you reply to Whoop09 about "Timing" and you were talkin about the sparkknock that sounds like your valves are chattering. i recently had to reset my timing to 10 deg. btdc because i screwed it up when i replaced the ignition control module (i wont go into how i did). So i finally got it back to 10 deg. but i have a really bad sparkknocking (just like chatterin valves) and it happens when im goin uphill or some sort of strain on the engine takes place. In your reply you said that it happens when you advance the timing too much, but mine was set right on ten...give or take 1/2 deg. . Could the computer have set my timing to another degree or could it be something else. Please help if you can.
Well you should re check it and make shure you have the spout conector unpluged when you do, if you still getting rattle at 10 degr. then you could have some carbon build up in your heads and on your pistons and it could be cheap gas, or could be a lean condition. Hope this helps. DW
hey DW2455, i went and rechecked it today and it looked 'about' 10 deg. But i still readjusted it and tried again to set it back to the proper setting. Lo and Behold the sparkknock is GONE! i think what my problem was the last time was that i didnt put it in neutral because i was in a hurry (i dont know if that would make that big of a diff) or when i set it before i may have been a deg. or two off. Could that little degree make that difference? Also after i set it to 10 deg and shut it off and replugged the spout connector, the timing would go to about 20 deg. Then i took off the connector and it went back to 10 deg. Is it supposed to do this? Anyways thanx abunch for the help. i appritiate it.
yes its suposed to do that when you set the base timming and plug the spout back in then the ECM takes over, and yes 2 degr can make a difference. Good luck DW
