Overdrive light flashing
1997 F-350, automatic tranny w/OD. Shifts hard in lower gears and won't shift into overdrive and up into anything higher than 3rd. Pretty inconsistent. Sometimes will only shift to 2nd. Every now and then if its messed with enough it will shift up into 4th and will run fine until you slow down and it gears down, then you are back at square one.
Don't want to replace tranny, but getting frustrated at what the problem is. Not much of a tranny person. Trying to figure out things I can try that are small before paying big bucks.
Any ideas??

Sorry for no reply sooner 96P_Stroke4x4. I got it figured out and taken care of. Ended up replacing shift sensor and taking battery cables off for about 1/2 hour and putting them back on to reset the computer. Has run fine ever since!!
